Consultants enjoy the privilege of working with many clients and individuals over the years. From them we learn a great deal, while we explore with them how to address the challenges they face and how to seize the (often surprising) opportunities available. I owe a debt of gratitude to all those with whom I have worked. Thank you. The other source of learning for consultants is business leaders and thinkers. Here are ones that I have admired over the years, and whose work has been an inspiration to me many times over

Charles Handy - the personification of reinvention - "we must not let our past, however glorious, get in the way of our future"

Marshall Goldsmith - one of the best executive coaches in the world and enormously generous with his resources. Here's an interview - Ask the Coach

Gary Hamel and C.K. Prahalad - responsible for shifting our thinking to core competencies, strategic intent and industry revolution

John Kotter - has no peer - 'eight steps to successful change' creates a real sense of urgency. Read The Iceberg Manifesto - you will be dazzled!

David Maister - the leading adviser to professional service firms globally

Michael Porter  - where was strategy before Porter? Read his 2008 McKinsey award winning HBR paper - 5 competitive forces. Also on video

Al Ries and Jack Trout - it all started with Positioning in 1980, and these two gurus have kept developing innovative marketing strategies ever since

Nassim Nicholas Taleb - The Black Swan is provocative and will demand that you think deeply about your assumptions on everything!

Peter Schwartz  - the pioneer who brought scenario planning to the masses, even Hollywood!
